\"\"<\/a>Ernst Hafen obtained his PhD from the Biocenter at the University
\nof Basel in 1983. From 1984 to 1986 he worked at the University
\nof California in Berkeley as a postdoctoral fellow before joining
\nthe University of Zurich as an assistant professor in 1987. He was
\npromoted to full professor in 1997. From 2005 to 2006 he served
\nas president of ETH Zurich. Since 2005 he holds a professorship at

\"\"<\/a>Maria Yazdanbakhsh is professor in cellular immunology of parasitic infections and is the head of the department of Parasitology at LUMC. She holds visiting professorships at the University of Indonesia in Jakarta and University of Hasanudding in Makassar, Indonesia. She is the president of Dutch Society for Parasitology.
